Scope of supply

A Complete Permanent Monitoring System.

Belt Scanner MF is a permanently installed steel-cord condition monitoring system, designed to operate as part of the conveyor’s normal operation.

01
Non-Contact Transducer
Individual steel-cord monitoring at 35mm clearance from the belt surface.
02
Splice Monitoring
Track splice condition over time via magnetic signature comparison.
03
Disastrous Event Detection
Automated conveyor stop on detection of a major belt event.
04
Programmed Parking
Automatically position areas of interest at a maintenance location.
05
Control Integration
Interfaces with site control systems via Modbus TCP, with optional relay outputs.
06
Remote Connectivity
Site network or optional cellular link for off-site condition analysis.
07
Software
BSMF Data Viewer for scan control, DED configuration, parking and data analysis.
08
Commissioning
Typically two days on site. Installation and site works are scoped per conveyor.
Permanent vs periodic

Scan Every Day. Not Just During Shutdowns.

Periodic belt inspection gives you a snapshot. Permanent monitoring gives you a baseline — and lets you see what changes.

01
Baseline
Establish the belt’s starting condition.
02
Monitor
Scan during normal production.
03
Compare
Measure change between scans.
04
Act
Target inspection where it matters.
Trend damage between scans
Watch nominated splices
Identify significant changes
Park areas of interest for inspection

Remote access — condition data can be reviewed without Beltscan personnel permanently on site.

How it works

Scan. Detect. Analyse. Act.

Electromagnetic condition monitoring — not X-ray. Permanent magnet arrays condition the belt carcass while a sensor transducer reads the magnetic signature of every steel cord.

01
Scan
The belt passes the non-contact sensor during normal operation.
02
Detect
Changes in magnetic response identify cord damage and areas requiring attention.
03
Analyse
Software compares belt condition over time and identifies progression.
04
Act
Maintenance teams investigate and manage areas of concern.

Detection capability

Why it matters

Visibility Into One of Your Conveyor’s Most Critical Assets.

Steel-cord belts operate continuously under demanding conditions. Cord damage, splice deterioration and progressive defects can develop long before they are obvious during visual inspection. Belt Scanner MF gives maintenance teams condition information they can use to make better inspection, maintenance and replacement decisions.

01
Know
Understand current belt condition at individual cord level.
02
Trend
See whether known damage is stable or progressing.
03
Plan
Investigate areas of concern before they become emergency work.
Target operations

Designed for Operators Who Want Their Own Belt Intelligence.

Mining · Coal · Alumina · Ports · Quarries · Cement · Power · Mineral Processing
Ideal for operations that
Operate steel-cord conveyor belts
Run belts from multiple manufacturers
Are not tied to one belt supplier’s monitoring ecosystem
Want permanent rather than occasional monitoring
Want remote specialist condition-analysis capability
Want an independent view of belt condition

Built From Decades of Conveyor Belt Monitoring Experience.

Beltscan Systems has specialised in conveyor belt condition monitoring and non-destructive testing since 1979 — not in manufacturing conveyor belts. Our late founder, Barry Brown, was the first person in the world to offer commercial conveyor belt monitoring.

That specialisation is precisely why our monitoring stays independent of whichever belt is fitted to your conveyor.

Common questions

Straight Answers on Fit, Ownership and Support.

How is Belt Scanner MF priced?
Belt Scanner MF systems start from US$44,900, including the first year of Beltscan monitoring software and online reporting. Software renewal thereafter is US$7,900 per year per monitored belt, covering the full suite of system access and configuration, offline analysis, data download and online reporting. Each system is configured around the conveyor, including belt width, site requirements, communications and the level of commissioning or ongoing monitoring required, so final pricing varies.

Use the Quick Quote form to tell us your belt width and the services you need, and Beltscan or an authorised local partner can recommend the appropriate configuration.

Does Belt Scanner MF work with belts from any manufacturer?
Yes. Beltscan does not manufacture conveyor belts. Belt Scanner MF is designed to monitor suitable steel-cord conveyor belts regardless of belt manufacturer, which suits sites running mixed belt fleets.
Does the conveyor need to stop for scanning?
No. Belt Scanner MF monitors the belt while the conveyor operates under normal production.
Does the scanner touch the belt?
No. It is a non-contact system installed with clearance from the belt surface, so there is no belt wear and no belt modification is required.
Is Belt Scanner MF an X-ray system?
No. It uses electromagnetic condition monitoring rather than radiation. See our article comparing electromagnetic vs X-ray belt scanning.
Can Beltscan analyse the results remotely?
Yes. Scan data can be reviewed remotely through the online portal and Managed Belt Monitoring, covering damage progression, splice trending and notification of significant changes.
Can we buy the hardware without managed monitoring?
Yes. The system can be purchased as standalone site-owned hardware with Beltscan software and portal access. Reporting and managed monitoring can be added later if required.
Can a local Beltscan partner supply and support the system?
Yes, where Beltscan has an authorised partner covering your region. Beltscan provides the technology, software and specialist support behind the partner. See our partner network.
